Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh,
North Carolina, on the 7th of September, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III
is a theatre actor writer and director as is her mother, Sara Wood, is an
actress and acting coach. Her older brothers include Dana Wood, a musician and
Ira David Wood IV who have also been actors. Evan and her brothers have
frequently appeared in the Theatre In The Park in Raleigh. Her father was the
founder of the company and is its director-executive. After a long and
drawn-out audition process and a five-year age gap, she was old when she was
able to screen-test with Kirsten Dunst. In the year 1996, she relocated to Los
Angeles along with her brother Ira and mother. She has appeared in television
shows, feature films, and TV films since. She appeared in Practical Magic
(1998) as the daughter of Al Pacino. The comedy S1m0ne(2002) was followed by
Thirteen (2003) featuring Holly Hunter. Her role in the film's breakout
performance as Tracy in "Thirteen" garnered her a Golden Globes nomination
for Best Performance by an Actress in the genre of Motion Picture: Drama and
for an Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an
Actress of Female Character in an Acting Role. When she received the award from
SAG, she was the most youthful actress in the Leading Role category. Her role
in the role of Veda Pierce in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011) brought
her an Emmy nomination as well as a Golden Globe award. She also earned acclaim
for her stunning performance in the role of Stephanie, Mickey Rourke's
estranged daughter, in the Darren Aronofsky film The Wrestler (2008). She is
the daughter of Ira David Wood III and Sara Wood. Younger sister of Ira David
Wood IV and Dana Wood. She is a certified dancer. She enjoys singing, swimming
as well as rollerblade. She also enjoys horseback riding. She has a black belt
in tae Kwon Do. She's kept in touch with most of her time in Once and Again
(1999) co-stars: Mischa Barrton, Julia Whelan and Shane West.
